A food delicacy from Umbria in Italy
February 22, 2008
Tegamaccio is a freshwater fish stew made with pike, carp, tench, eel and other species from Lake Trasimeno in Umbria. Typical ingredients also include white wine, garlic, peppers and tomatoes.
Slightly farther to the south, in the Abruzzo Region of Italy a similar dish can be found at the various Trabocchi, agee-old traditional fishing platforms unique to this area between Ortona and Vasto. Guests residing at Casale in Abruzzo frequently make the trip from Valle San Giovanni to Ortona to experience the culinary delights they have to offer.
